The Universe: Hello, dear Alexandra. We see you’ve been busy!
Alexandra: Hello, dear Universe! Yes! I’ve just added two excellent quotes to Wholehearted.blog from two excellent women who essentially say the same thing in slightly different ways: Get started!
Just get started. You don’t have to plan out every step of the way in advance. You don’t have to have all the answers. Just get started. And see where it takes you. Live with a spirit of adventure. Take a leap of trust. Open yourself up to let undreamed of possibilities in.

U: You seem excited by this.
A: I am! I used to overthink everything in an attempt to protect myself from loss and disappointment. Of course, that meant I actually expected loss and disappointment, so that’s what I was programming into the matrix.
Or, I just ignored all wisdom and leapt blindly into some kind of romantic fantasy. Which, of course, resulted in loss and disappointment.
I was a slow learner!
U: And you believe this has changed in you now?
A: I do. Many years ago. in my twenties, when I first delved deeply into numerology, I cried bitterly when it revealed that I wouldn’t be successful until I was much older. Now, especially with 40-plus years of Buddhist practice under my belt, I can look back and see that of course this was my truth.
And now that I’m older, I’m also younger – because I’m no longer weighed down by bitterness, regret, despair, depression, self-pity and a slew of other icky, tricky and paralysing delusions. Not to mention crippling existential fear. Talk about insecurity!
I can’t say that I never feel that fear anymore, especially considering the unstable state of the world we live in. The age of conflict that Buddhism predicted millennia ago. But I can say that I have the ability to master myself, using my Buddhist practice with the Gohonzon. And that essentially means I can transform my mind from a tyrannical, critical master into a willing and powerful servant.
So despite the chaos we live in, I feel optimistic.
And so I write this blog, starting in my own small way to make a difference and encourage myself and, hopefully, others.
The Universe: It is well that you do so, dear child of the Universe. For every positive cause makes a difference.
